It is interesting that without saying a word, representatives of indigenous peoples in different regions of the country came to the sites in large numbers in national clothes
Our correspondents report this fact from various cities and remote villages.
“I thought that if I came in national clothes, it would become a reminder that there are many of us, we preserve our cultures and our rights always require special attention,” said Vasily Yamkin, a Nenets voting in Moscow.
In the Murmansk region, representatives of several Sami ethnocultural organizations and communities came to polling stations in Murmansk, Olenegorsk and Lovozero in national clothes.
Galina Kravchenko, chairman of the Kamchatka public organization of youth of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, «Friendship of Northerners», told why she would vote in the elections.
“I studied for a long time those people who put forward their candidacies for elections, listened and watched the debates. Now I know for sure who is interesting to me and to whom I will transfer my right to protect my interests both as a resident of the Kamchatka Territory and as a resident of the state, ”said Galina Kravchenko.
For more than ten years, Galina Kravchenko has been engaged in creative work, telling about the culture of the peoples of Kamchatka. She, together with like-minded people, created a public organization of youth of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North in the Kamchatka Territory «Friendship of the Northerners» in order to form an active civic position among the indigenous peoples, to change stereotypes in order to preserve and revive traditions and culture.
“I have been running for elections since I was 16, I make my choice. Khanty, Nenets and Mansi nationalities, people living in Yugorsk are responsible and interested in the fate of their country, so everyone gives their vote, ”commented Tatyana Pavlovna Sysoeva and“ Salvation of Yugra ”.
In Taimyr, in the northern settlements of the peninsula, representatives of the Dolgan, Nenets, Enets and Nganasan peoples came to the sites with whole families in national clothes.
Nadezhda Kotelnikova, a representative of the Nganasan people, appeared in smart white clothes. At the entrance, she was met by members of the commission. She noted that she hopes for the future. As the voter admitted, for whom to vote in the elections to the State Duma, she had decided in advance.
“Something wonderful will happen in the future, I hope for the future,” the participant of the electoral process explained.
And in Khatanga, even some members of the election commission and observers emphasized with their clothes their belonging to the indigenous peoples.
Some members of the election commission also came to work in national clothes. So, one of the representatives of the Dolgan people, Angela Sukhanova, appeared in dark Dolgan clothes. She told how she imagines the future “on behalf of her people”.
